snom is an HP channel partner and will market and promote the HP 4110 and HP 4120 IP phones through its global network of distributors and resellers. snom and its partners begin selling the phones in June.

snom, which already has the distinction of offering the most complete line of Lync-qualified IP phones, is now able to offer its enterprise customers an even broader portfolio of IP endpoint devices with HP’s Lync-optimized IP phones.

“As the market for Microsoft Lync expands, businesses require the flexibility to deploy solutions that fit their specific needs, whether that’s Lync-optimized devices or Lync-qualified devices,” said Michael Knieling, chief operating officer of snom technology AG in Berlin. “We can offer more choices to our customers, whatever their needs may be.”

HP 4110 and 4120 IP phones are optimized for Lync, which means they are designed from the ground up according to Microsoft Lync specifications, and are pre-installed with Microsoft’s Lync software, work only in a Lync UC environment and feature tight integration with Microsoft applications including calendars and contacts.

In contrast, Lync-qualified phones such as snom’s work in a Lync environment as well as an IP-PBX environment, are customizable, have their own firmware and may have their own unique calling features distinct from Lync.

By partnering with HP, snom will deliver to its customers certain enterprise capabilities – PC/phone integration, click-to-call and Lync server integrated manageability. These features, currently unavailable on Lync qualified devices, will also be uniquely available for snom UC edition phones later this year.

HP will provide tier 1 support for the 4110 and 4120 IP phones, snom and its partners will be responsible for go-to-market activities, including sales and marketing of the phones.

snom is serving the fast-growing market for Microsoft Lync, a complete unified communications platform that connects people via IM, voice, video and meetings, and offers a consistent experience across multiple devices.

HP’s 4110 and 4120 Lync-optimized IP phones join snom’s lineup of Lync-qualified IP phones: the 3xx series UC edition phone, the 7xx series UC edition phone and the 8xx series UC edition phone.
