Live Demonstration of How Customers Benefit From Enhanced User Experience and Collaboration at VMworld on Mitel’s Booth #2512 and VMware’s Booth
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mitel (Nasdaq:MITL) (TSX:MNW), a leading provider of Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) solutions, today announced that it has completed integration of its Unified Communicator Advanced (UCA) client softphone software with VMware Zimbra(R), an enterprise-class email, calendar and collaboration solution. Deployed together, the two offerings deliver a complete messaging and collaboration UCC solution, now with the added benefit of integrated softphone in a virtualized cloud environment, either public or private.
Scalar Decisions, a leading IT solutions integrator, has implemented the Mitel/Zimbra solution with customers and has standardized on it for its own operations. “This integrated solution enables us to deliver the best possible user experience to every employee in our company,” said Paul Kerr, president of Scalar Decisions. “It’s everything that integrated communications should be: open, intuitive, seamless, fast, and effective.”
The integration between Zimbra 8 and Mitel’s Unified Communicator Advanced allows for a flexible deployment model, and is useable in both public and private cloud models. Zimbra 8 features a completely re-designed user-interface with embedded Mitel UCC functionality, aimed at allowing users with an existing UCC solution to seamlessly connect their voice and message systems in a unified inbox, while taking advantage of advanced UCC functionality including click-to-call, visual voicemail, and access to call history.
“Mitel’s deep understanding of virtualization, and ability to incorporate customer feedback into their development cycle, made it easy to integrate Mitel voice functionality with VMware Zimbra(R),” said Andy Pflaum, senior director of Business Development, VMware Zimbra. “We are very pleased with how quickly we’ve been able to roll out the new voice and calling features to joint customers like Scalar.”
“This illustrates the myriad benefits resulting from our longstanding partnership with VMware,” said Stephen Beamish, Mitel’s vice president of Business Development. “Along with our efforts for the virtualized data center and virtual desktop infrastructure solutions, Mitel is now aiming to effectively leverage our Freedom Architecture to deliver a complete and open messaging and collaboration solution in a virtualized cloud environment through this integration with VMware Zimbra(R).”
Live demos of the joint solution can be seen at VMworld 2012 in Mitel’s booth #2512 and VMware’s booth, August 26-August 30 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Mitel will also participate in a series of international VMware events this fall including VMworld Europe in Barcelona, VMware Forum in Beijing, China, VMware Solutions Symposiums in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and VMware Forum in Singapore and Australia.
