New Solution Extends Proven MVX Architecture to Protect Content Repositories

MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 6, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — FireEye, Inc. (Nasdaq:FEYE), the leader in stopping today’s advanced cyber attacks, today announced the launch of the FireEye Data Center Security solution. The new FireEye solution protects the core components of the data center including content repositories, Web and application servers, and common file shares from advanced attacks.

Enterprises create and store an extremely high volume of unstructured data such as schematics, roadmaps, and business plans, often in unprotected file shares and content repositories. These documents, containing important intellectual property, are often targets of advanced attack. According to IDC, total worldwide data is set to expand from 2.8 trillion gigabytes in 2012 to 40 trillion gigabytes by 2020.

“Unstructured data often represents the core assets in a company and we now have a solution to help protect the repositories that store them,” said Manish Gupta, FireEye SVP of products. “With the FireEye Data Center Security solution, enterprises can extend the industry-leading threat prevention platform from the perimeter into the data center.”

At the core of the solution is the FireEye Threat Prevention Platform that is a purpose-built, virtual machine-based detection platform that provides real-time threat protection. The FireEye Data Center Security solution protects enterprise data centers from content-based and server-based advanced targeted attacks that steal data and intellectual property as well as convert servers into attack machines.

According to IDC’s Worldwide Datacenter Security 2012–2016 Forecast:

Protecting the Heart of the Enterprise 3rd Platform, in 2012, $12 billion was spent to secure data centers. Despite this outlay, the 2013 Verizon Data Breach Report revealed that malware was responsible for 40 percent of data breaches and that 54 percent of incidents were due to compromised servers. The FireEye solution is designed to ensure protection for data centers from targeted cyber attacks that are completely missed by “defense in depth” architecture consisting of traditional security products.

The key highlights of the FireEye Data Center Security solution are:

Comprehensive solution to protect an enterprise’s most critical assets in the data center from advanced malware and targeted attacks.

  •  Purpose-built FireEye Multi-Vector Virtual Execution (MVX) engine to combat zero-day and unknown threats.
  •  Effectively discovers and permanently quarantines advanced malware in content repositories and file shares.
  •  Safeguards organizations from becoming victim to attackers that are using an organization’s data center infrastructure to host malware.
  •  Real-time intelligence sharing via the FireEye Dynamic Threat Intelligence (DTI) cloud.
