June 10, 2021 – The Austrian full-service IT provider Axians ICT Austria has signed a mega-deal with DPD France: The French parcel service provider will use the cargoNET logistics system developed in-house for another ten years.

DPD France has been relying on the software platform from Austria for 25 years, which ensures the cost-optimized handling of parcels. With the new commitment, the partnership between Axians and DPD is now entering the next decade. “We have been working with DPD on a pay-per-use model right from the start. What is often considered a brand new idea today has proven itself for both of us for 25 years. Against the background of the booming parcel business, we want to continue our cooperation on the basis of a risk sharing model, ”says Edgar Reiter, CEO Axians ICT Austria.

Axians: Logistics software in use on all continents

cargoNET is software for express and parcel services that handles the entire transport logistics from a volume of five million parcels per year. It was developed in Linz in 1994, where a specialized team is still working on continuous further development. “Our cargoNET platform ensures optimal supply chain management up to the end customer and high availability of the systems. The million dollar deal with DPD France underscores our highly developed logistics competence, which we are continuing to pursue in a targeted manner, ”says Edgar Reiter. In addition to cargoNET, the Axians ICT Austria software portfolio includes two other in-house developed solutions: the transport and warehouse management software lbase and the web service platform addHelix.

DPDgroup: Europe’s largest parcel service network

DPD France is part of the DPDgroup, Europe’s largest parcel service network. More than 2,100 people are employed in France, and 58 depots deliver around 420,000 parcels on average every day. The company was founded in 1995 under the Exapaq brand through a merger of 19 regional freight forwarders. The company has been a subsidiary of La Poste since 2006 and has been operating under the DPD brand since 2015. The cooperation with today’s Axians ICT Austria (then ILS Consult) began in 1995, the year it was founded, and continues to this day and has now been extended for a further ten years.
