Zensar enables Local Skills Development and Employment in South Africa

Aims to train 1000 local students in the next 5 years

South Africa, November 15, 2017: Zensar Technologies, a leading digital solutions and technology services company that specializes in partnering with global organizations across industries on their Digital transformation journey, announced the successful completion  of yet another batch of South Africa ICT students & their placement across customer projects. This initiative is the outcome of its Graduate Training & Learnership Program (GTP) that Zensar launched in 2009 in line with its investments into South Africa and towards building ICT skills in the country. In the previous quarter, 24 interns have been placed across important customer projects in sectors like Insurance, Banking Industry sector in the region.

The programme is not just about developing local talent but more importantly is about, creating employment opportunity and making an impact on the local community. Programme details:

Zensar launched the Graduate Training & Learnership Program (GTP), in line with its investments into South Africa and its focus on building local skills in the countries it operates in and the South African initiative started at Johannesburg in 2009. This program charter was to identify and train graduate students, especially from the PDI community and to collaborate with Zensar’s customers to jointly create employment for these graduates, thereby making skills development & employment creation, a viable and sustainable model, enhancing ICT skills in South Africa and most importantly, making impact on participants growth. This program involves sending a batch of approx. 30 graduates / batch for a period of 3-6 month training to India. They emerge from the programme, significantly more employable. In this endeavour, Zensar has further collaborated with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to improve Industry readiness of TUT’s students while still at university and give them an opportunity to work in an industry-like environment under expert guidance.

The batch of Quarter 2, 2017 has completed 6 months of detailed training at Zensar’ s India training facilities, and got specialized hands on experiences in skills like, Software Quality Assurance (Manual and Automated Software Testing), Web Application Development and Robotics technologies and set of soft skills. This was followed with on-job trainings, projects and assignments. Students who completed the internship programme in October, have started delivering value to our customers by engaging with them on various initiatives.
