ASCDI v. Sun Microsystems

U.K. Office of Fair Trading Complaint

On April 23, 2007, ASCDI filed a Complaint with the UK competition authority, the Office of Fair Trading (“OFT”), against Sun Microsystems UK Limited. This Complaint seeks to reverse Sun’s policy of denying provenance information to independent resellers of Sun products in the UK and the EU.  A copy of the Press Release regarding this Complaint, which has been distributed throughout the U.S., UK, and key Western European markets, can be found HERE

The filing of this Complaint is a major step in ASCDI’s long-standing effort to work with Sun to enable fair and reasonable trade in the secondary market for Sun products. Prior efforts by the ASCDI to resolve this issue with Sun have proven ineffective, and the need to address Sun’s anti-competitive policies and practices was immediate. ASCDI is determined to vigorously defend the legal rights of the industry and its members, and to defend the interests of customers/end-users. ASCDI is working hard on behalf of its members’ to fight for their rights in the market place.

A copy of the Complaint Summary is available HER.E.
